While utility managers are accustomed to adapting their operations and planning to changing circumstances, future activities will have to address the uncertainty surrounding global climate change. Decision-making by water resource managers will have to be based on projected future risks, thus increasing the complexity of planning and emphasizing the importance of incorporating flexibility in water resource management.
The "Utility Operations" section of this Clearinghouse provides materials describing how utility operations may be impacted by climate change. It also contains resources discussing how to adapt utility operations to reduce the adverse impacts associated with climate change.
The resources are divided into categories that encompass ten major utility operations and management areas.
